I love making Greek food. This smashed version of Chicken Souvlaki is so easy and delicious! I like to make homemade pita bread and tzatziki.

Smash Chicken Souvlaki

Smashed Souvlaki is going to be your new favorite way to eat it!

Ingredients

  • 2 lb Ground Chicken
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tbsp Dried Oregano
  • Juice of 1/2 lemon
  • 2 tbsp Chopped Fresh Parsley
  • 1 tsp Cumin
  • 1/2 tsp Paprika
  • 1/2 tsp Coriander

Tzatziki

  • 1 cup Plain Greek Yorgurt
  • 1 clove Garlic, minced
  • Juice of 1/2 Lemon
  • 2 tbsp Fresh Dill, minced
  • 1/2 Cucumber, Shredded
  • Salt & Pepper to taste

Greek Salad

  • Cherry Tomatoes, cut in half
  • Cucumbers, diced
  • Red Onion, diced or sliced
  • Feta Cheese, crumbled
  • Dried Oregano to taste
  • Drizzle of Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • Splash of Red Wine Vinegar
  • Salt & Pepper to taste

Instructions

  • To a bowl, add chicken and seasonings and mix well. Set aside in fridge while preparing the other elements.

Tzatziki

  • In a small bowl, add greek yogurt, garlic, lemon juice, dill, salt and pepper. Shred the cucumber and place into a paper towel. Squeeze all the liquid out and then add to the yogurt mixture. Mix well. Set aside. This can be done the day before, the longer it sits the more flavorful it becomes.

Greek Salad

  • Add tomato, cucumber, onion, feta to a bowl. Sprinkle with oregano, olive oil, salt, pepper and red wine vinegar and mix.
  • Onto a pita, add the ground chicken making sure to cover the entire pita in a thin layer about 1/2 inch thick.

Cooking the Souvlaki

  • Oil a griddle or skillet, place the pita, chicken side down onto a griddle or into a cast iron skillet and cook on medium until full cooked. Then flip and warm the pita on the other side.
  • Top with tzatziki and greek salad and Enjoy!
