We love Greek food in my family. There is a trend going around for Smash Tacos, but this is my take on this trend Greek style! The meat is bursting with Greek inspired flavors. This meal is so easy and fun!

Smash Gyros

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground Lamb
  • 1 lb Ground Beef
  • 1 tbsp Dry Oregano
  • 1 1/2 tsp Cumin
  • 1 1/2 tsp Paprika
  • 2 tbsp Fresh Parsley, minced
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1/4 Red Onion, minced
  • Salt & Pepper to taste

Tzatziki

  • 1 cup Plain Greek Yogurt
  • 1 small Cucumber, shredded
  • 1 clove Garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp Fresh Dill, minced
  • 1/2 Lemon, juiced
  • 1 tsp White Vinegar
  • Salt & Pepper to taste

Greek Salad

  • 8 oz Feta
  • 1 cup Cherry Tomatoes
  • 1 Cucumber, shredded and drained
  • 1/4 Red Onion, diced
  • 1/3 cup Kalamata Olives
  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil for drizzling
  • Salt & Pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Mix meat with all the spices and refrigerate overnight or at least for a few hours.
  • Shred a cucumber a small cucumber and squeeze out all the liquid. Mix all of the ingredients for the tzatziki, refrigerate until ready to use.
  • Mix all of the ingredients for the Greek salad and set aside.
  • Add a thin layer of the meat mixture to a pita, making sure to spread it out all the way to the borders of the pita.
  • Into a preheated cast-iron skillet with a little bit of olive oil, place the pita meat, side down and sear until the meat is fully cooked. It helps to place a wait on top of the pita to get a good sear. Then flip it over and just heat up the other side of the pita.
  • Top with tzatziki and Greek salad and enjoy!
