This is an easy & delicious taco with a spicy salsa. Marinated flank steak makes this taco so flavorful and after an overnight marinade, it comes together in about 20 minutes!

Steak Tacos with Salsa Verde

Tender and juicy steak with a spicy salsa!
Servings 5 people

Ingredients

  • 2 lb Flank Steak

Marinade

  • 1/2 cup Freshly Squeezed Orange Juice
  • Zest of 1 Orange
  • 1/4 cup Freshly Squeezed Lime Juice
  • Zest of 1 Lime
  • 2 Garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp Sugar
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • Pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp Chili Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin
  • 1/2 tsp Oregano
  • 1/2 tsp Paprika
  • 1/4 tsp Cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 cup Olive Oil

Salsa Verde

  • 6 Tomatillos
  • 1 Onion
  • 2 Garlic cloves
  • 1 Serrano
  • 1/2 tsp Salt (adjust to taste)
  • Juice of 2 limes

Toppings

  • Diced Red Onion
  • Queso Fresco
  • Sliced Avocado
  • Squeeze of Lime

Instructions

  • Into a bowl, mix all of the marinade ingredients. Add the steak to a Ziploc bag and pour the marinade over the steak. Marinate overnight or at least five hours.

Salsa Verde

  • Remove the skin of the tomatillo and wash well because they are very sticky. Cut. the onion into quarters. onto a hot barbecue or indoor grill pan add the tomatillos, the Serano pepper, the onion, and the garlic cloves still in their skin. Char on all sides and then add to a food processor with salt and lime juice. Pulse until you achieve a chunky salsa. Place into a container and refrigerate until ready to use.
  • Remove the flank steak from the marinade and discard the marinade. grill the steak on a barbecue or in a grill pan for 3 to 4 minutes on each side depending on the thickness. Place onto a plate and cover with aluminum foil. Let it rest for at least 10 minutes before cutting.
  • Cut the steak into thin strips, make sure you cut against the grain for a tender slice.
  • Heat up your tortilla, add your steak strips and your desired toppings. Enjoy your taco night!
