
Chocolate Salami
This easy no bake dessert is the perfect decadent treat for the holidays! The origin of this dessert is not necessarily only Italian but it has become more common in Italy in the last 10 years. You can add whatever cookies, nuts, liquor or dried fruits you like to tailor it to your taste.

Chocolate Salami
A delicious no-bake dessert!
Equipment
- Cooking Twine
- Plastic Wrap
Ingredients
- 9 oz 70% Dark Chocolate
- 1 cup Heavy Cream
- 2 tbsp Unsalted Butter (room temp)
- 2 tbsp Granulated Sugar
- 1/4 tsp Salt
- 6 oz Tea Biscuits
- 1/2 cup Pistachio Nuts
- 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
- 1 tbsp Espresso Liquor You can also use Rum, Kahlua or Frangelico
- 1 cup Confectioner's Sugar
Optional
- 1/3 cup Dried Fruits like Cranberry, Apricots or Raisins
Instructions
- Break up the tea biscuits into small pieces and set them aside.
- Into a microwave safe bowl, add the chocolate and heavy cream. Microwave for one minute until the heavy cream is warm and the chocolate starts to melt. If the heavy cream is not warm, you can microwave and intervals of 20 seconds until it warms up. You can also do this on a double boiler. Stir until all the chocolate is melted and then throw in room temperature butter. Continue to stir until the chocolate looks smooth and shiny.
- Add in salt and sugar and stir to combine.
- Then add vanilla extract and espresso liquor and stir to combine.
- Add in the tea biscuits and the pistachio nuts. Fold to make sure that everything is fully incorporated. If using dried fruits, also add those in at this point.
- Layout two pieces of plastic wrap one on top of the other about 24 inches long. Using a spatula scoop out half the mixture onto the plastic wrap in the shape of a log. Then pull one end of the plastic wrap over the mixture and squeeze it into a log shape pull the other end over the mixture and then start to twist and squeeze the ends to form a solid log. Do this again for the other half of the mixture. And then place them into the refrigerator to set for at least three hours to overnight.
- After they have set, add confectioner's of sugar to a plate and roll each salami in confectioner's sugar, making sure to completely coat the entire surface. If you want to be fancy at this point, you can tie cooking twine to make it really look real!
- Slice it up and enjoy! Keep refrigerated when not serving.
